Oh boy, this was one hell of a tour! Totally D.I.Y: we booked almost all of the shows ourselves, drove 7200 kilometers in 19 days, played in 10 different countries, and both Otto and René got ill (but no show was cancelled)! All the hard work we put into this totally made the tour worthwhile and we all have very fond memories of the entire experience.
About this show: It was September 25, 2013, our European tour had just started, and, though we predominantly played shows as two separate acts (Nick solo, Otto and René as Dead Neanderthals), the gig at N.K. in Berlin was one of the few occasions we played as a trio. After a long drive from Amsterdam, we arrived at N.K., unloaded the ENORMOUS van we rented, and brought everything upstairs to the venue. After a quick sound check, some dinner (beet soup), and a substantial wait for the show to start, we entered the stage.
What happened next was really weird. We were pretty pumped to play in Berlin, especially as a trio, so we infused as much energy as we could into the improvisations. However, after finishing the first third of the set, we got the worst applause ever. What the hell happened? Were we sucking so hard? Fuck it, shit happens. Work harder during the 2nd section of the gig. Again: not much response. Where is this going? We plowed through the 3rd act and finally got a bit more response from the crowd.
And the best thing is: it's all on this little tape! So enjoy and struggle along.
This is no live at Budokan, this is live in Berlin.
With crappy sound....
...and a weird vibe
